The recall is expected to begin in early January 2021 and will make sure the headlight's aiming caps are properly closed.
]]>The airbags currently in the vehicles have metal inflators that contain ammonium nitrate without a drying agent added to protect the chemical from moisture. The moisture can destabilize the ammonium nitrate and turn the metal inflator into a grenade full of shrapnel.
The affected vehicles include the 2010-2016 4Runner, 2010-2013 Corolla, 2010-2013 Matrix, and 2011-2014 Sienna. Toyota plans on sending out recall notices towards the end of January.
]]>The problem is the torque converter that can fail in the CVT and cause the car to lose motive power at any speed.Because there’s no fix, Toyota needs to replace the whole transmission and let’s just say they were not prepared for that situation. To buy some time, the automaker isn’t planning on sending recall notices until mid-February.
Usually a car’s first recall is for a missing tire label or a loose connection somewhere. If this is any indication of future problems with the Corolla Hatchback then batten down the hatches.
]]>In May 2018, the plaintiff was driving his car on the highway when the steering wheel allegedly started vibrating so violently the 4Runner went off the road. A mechanic said the right front control arm fractured because of excessive corrosion and rust.Toyota may deny knowing about rust problems in court, but that argument should crumble even faster than their frames.
In 2016 the automaker settled a massive corrosion lawsuit for similar model years of the Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia vehicles. That was the same year as a recall for 690,000 trucks with corroding rear suspension leaf springs.
]]>Although the previous recall used new replacement Takata airbag inflators, this latest recall will use inflators supplied by a company other than Takata. Those previous replacements were still using ammonium nitrate, a propellant that breaks down and explodes unpredictably when exposed to humidity and moisture.
Takata's inflators has been a long-running nightmare for millions of owners, hopefully this is the last time you'll have to bring your car in for service related to these exploding chunks of metal.
]]>About 44,000 model year 2018-2019 Tacoma master cylinder seals are defective due to manufacturing problems with the supplier. The master cylinder takes force from the pedal and converts it into hydraulic pressure that can be distributed to the brakes. But it needs brake fluid to build that pressure.
No fluid, no pressure → no pressure, no brakes → no brakes, no fun.
]]>Maybe they’re buying time to come up with enough replacement sensors. The trouble is you might see an airbag warning light pop up while waiting around. The problem also affects the Lexus LX 570.
]]>The government hasn't released recall details and Toyota didn't say more, other than dealers will check the bearing bolts for the rear axle hubs and replace the hub bearing assemblies if loose bolts are discovered.
If the rear axle carrier sub-assemblies are loose, dealers will install new ones.
]]>The automaker says the airbag electronic control units weren't programmed correctly, causing problems when the vehicles are started and the airbag sensors are disabled.
Every airbag is attached to a control unit that monitors data from sensors and determines when the airbag should deploy. You can imagine how important it is that these control units are dialed in. Toyota forgot that whole part.
]]>The Prius and Prius v are designed to enter limp mode, also called fail-safe mode, when the hybrid systems have faults. Toyota says the recall is necessary because the cars can fail to enter limp mode as intended when the hybrid systems have problems.Instead of limping home the cars will suddenly lose power and stall out. Toyota insists that power steering and braking will still work, but even with those systems on a stall at high speeds can be very dangerous.
If “limp home” problems sound familiar, you may be thinking of recalls made in 2014 and 2015 for similar problems. Toyota says previous recalls did not anticipate this new condition remedied with this recall. Geez. The fix is a simple software update. Let’s hope it’s the last one needed.
]]>The Prius recall will see Toyota dealers check the engine wire harness assemblies and replace the assemblies if the wire core is exposed. The replacement engine wire harness assemblies include new protective sleeves to protect the wires from wearing down.
The logical thing to do here would be to give every owner a protective wire sleeve, regardless of the current condition of the harness. But this is the automative industry where logic need not apply.
So if your Prius’ harness doesn’t have any exposed wires, the technician will just slap some tape on it and call it a day. Because we all know the most successful repairs are the half-assed ones …
]]>Kim steered to the right and lost control of the Tundra, sending it off the highway and over an embankment as it rolled onto its roof and then back onto the wheels. The plaintiff sustained severe life-changing neck and spinal cord injuries in the crash.
Vehicle stability control (VSC) was standard equipment for the 2001 to 2004 Tundra, but made an optional upgrade in 2005. The plaintiff argued that the truck’s lack of VSC led to his crash. However, the jury ruled that a missing feature wasn’t the same as a design defect.
]]>The plaintiffs claim the vehicles have defective heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that cause smells and health problems from mold that collects on the evaporators. Numerous complaints have allegedly been filed with the government, Toyota and Lexus dealerships nationwide since at least 1999.
This isn't the first time Toyota has been sued for musty A/C units.
]]>"Considering this considerable variance, it isn’t clear that Toyota could have specifically articulated any increased “risk” to any particular part of Plaintiffs’ vehicles because of the soy coated wiring." - Judge Andrew Guilford
The judge goes on (and on), eventually explaining that automakers can't be held responsible for "external actors."
"Plaintiffs are, in effect, asking the Court to stretch the implied warranty of merchantability to include some promise that no external actor will later harm Plaintiffs’ vehicles. The Court declines to extend the doctrine so far."
It's a huge blow and could set the precedent for other pending cases.
]]>Plaintiff Ray Roscoe says wiring in cars used to be coated with a glass, plastic or polymer-based insulation, but automakers now routinely use materials to save money and allegedly be good for the environment. Toyota allegedly did this with the wiring, choosing soy-based insulation over petroleum-based insulation.
This lawsuit follows a similar suit filed almost exactly one year ago.
]]>The Mirai can experience a failure of the fuel cell system when a driver goes down a long hill with cruise control engaged and then hits the gas pedal to quickly accelerate. Toyota says the car could quit because the voltage from the fuel cell boost converter can go beyond its limits and stop the fuel cell system.
The software update should take about 30 minutes to complete, just don't say it's part of a recall. Toyota would prefer to call it a customer satisfaction campaign. 🙄
]]>Toyota – including Lexus and Scion – has now recalled over 6 million vehicles for this problem. Find out if yours is on the most recent list and make sure to scroll through all the different recall "zones."
]]>Toyota is recalling 73,000 Tundra trucks for step bumpers that may break when stepped on. Affected are 2016-2017 Toyota Tundra trucks equipped with rear step bumpers made of resin, with resin reinforcement brackets at the corners. This only applies to trucks with resin bumpers, not chrome. The recall was expected to begin last month. ]]>
The rusted frame class-action lawsuit may cost Toyota as much as $3.4 billion to replace truck frames that corrode and rust, making the frames a danger due to structural failures.
The settlement covers former and current owners / lessees of the 2005-2012 Tacoma, 2007-2008 Tundra, and 2005-2008 Sequoia in the United States and its territories. Many of these trucks are one stiff breeze away from having their underbody turn to a pile of corroded dust. A fairness hearing will happen on 04/27/2017. If the judge approves the agreement, owners will have 60 days to submit claim forms and documentation.
]]>According to the plaintiff, she learned the hard way about the soy wiring when her Avalon wouldn't start and a look under the hood showed wires chewed, so she had the car towed to a dealer. Toyota told her rodents had caused the damage and it would be no problem to repair the problems as long as she could cough up $6,000 to cover the bill.
The soy-based wiring is allegedly attracting in rodents, who love to chew it up and use it for nesting material. The lawsuit, Heidi Browder vs. Toyota Motor Corporation, et al. follows a similar lawsuit filed against Honda earlier this year.
]]>"The Camry lawsuit says Toyota has known about the problem since at least 1997 when the automaker sent a technical service bulletin to dealers concerning a musty smell caused by the evaporator. The plaintiffs argue Toyota should have told Camry owners about the odor problems and stopped selling the cars until the problems were fixed."
With the HVAC running, the system pumps musty air into the cabin and is especially noticeable when first starting up. As you can imagine, breathing in microbe-filled air has been linked to serious health problems.
]]>Toyota says federal safety standards require a vehicle to activate a warning light if there is a drop in the brake fluid level. However, the automaker says there is a possibility the wire harness that attaches to the brake fluid reservoir sensor was never connected during manufacturing.
In other news: the sun is hot, traffic is the worst, and I can't believe this actually went unchecked. There's no word on when the recall will begin.
]]>Toyota is recalling about 340,000 Prius cars worldwide, including about 92,000 located in the U.S. The 2016-2017 Toyota Prius sedans have parking brakes that could fail, leading to a higher chance of rollaway incidents.Dealers will add some clips to the top of the brake cable dust boots to hold things in place. Owners should start getting notices in November 2016. ]]>
According to [a] lawsuit, when Toyota first announced the warranty program the automaker notified customers and said it could take months to gather the replacement parts. However, Toyota then sent a second notice that removed the information about a timeline for repairs.
Oh, well it can't be too long before everyone gets their replacement dash, right?
[The plaintiff] says after waiting more than a year for the dashboard to be fixed, her dealership told her there were about 800 customers on the same waiting list and the dealer had received only about 25 replacement dashboards during the past six months.
At that pace, not everyone will receive their free repairs before secondary coverage expires. No wonder Toyota is [being sued for breach of warranty](https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2016/toyota-sticky-dashboard-lawsuit-warranty.shtml.
]]>About a year later the same vehicles were recalled again for, you guessed it, rear suspension issues. This time dealers were told to inspect the tie rods for corrosion and slap some epoxy on there to prevent future damage.
OK --- nuts tightened, epoxy applied, good to go, right?
Nope. Those band-aid fixes just aren't holding up. Toyota is cutting its losses and replacing the suspension arm assemblies entirely. Let's hope the third time is a charm.
]]>A Toyota Prius Plug-In mileage lawsuit has been filed concerning a 2012 Prius Plug-In that allegedly gets only 8 miles on a single battery charge. Plaintiff Richard Rosenbaum says he purchased the 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In to save gas when driving 12 miles for work, then discovered the car wouldn't travel that far on a single battery charge.
We all know EPA estimates and MPG numbers posted by manufacturers are best case scenarios, often conducted in labs. But a 40% reduction (8 miles vs advertised 13) is a tough pill to swallow. Especially when one of the primary reasons for buying the car was to get to your job, 12 miles away, on one electric charge.
Another interesting note:
"Rosenbaum says the gas engine must be used at temps below 55 degrees because of using the heater, with the gasoline engine allegedly needed to provide hot water for the car's heater."
That's something they probably don't mention in the brochure. We'll see how this one plays out.
]]>Scenario two sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it? No wonder Toyota has issued a recall (they just don't know when it will begin). Of the 1.4 million vehicles, about 482,000 are located in the USA.
]]>The Toyota 4Runner lawsuit alleges the owner of the SUV had no idea the doors would automatically unlock when the SUV was shifted into PARK. The plaintiff blames Toyota for not informing consumers about how the door locks work and the dangers of doors automatically unlocking, especially in urban areas.
Yes, you can argue the merits of the case, but the carjackings have all resulted in terrible stories --- from sexual assault to the death of an entire family. No matter what the judge decides, your heart have to be with those affected.
]]>Based on federal regulations, a load carrying modification label must be added to a vehicle if weight exceeding the lesser of 1.5 percent of 100 pounds is added to a vehicle between final vehicle certification and the first retail sale of the vehicle. Any corrected values must be accurate to within 1 percent of the actual added weight.
The goal here is to make sure no-one overloads one of these models:
The recall began on July 14, 2016.
]]>The recall is expected to begin on July 14, 2016 and the seat heaters will need to be disconnected. Owners will be reimbursed.
]]>An internal investigation found the upper ring of the strut mounting bearing was damaged which allowed the strut to move, causing noise and wear of the strut rod. No problem could be found at the plant with assembly procedures or machines, so Toyota took a look at the history of the design.
The investigation found a steel cap strut bearing had been changed to a resin material in January 2015. And let's just say, the resin ain't cutting it. The recalled cars were manufactured between January 13, 2015 and February 27, 2015.
]]>Takata's metal inflators are at risk of exploding because they don't contain a drying agent called desiccate. Over time, the ammonium nitrate inside the inflator can become unstable when exposed to heat and humidity. If they do explode during an airbag deployment, metal shrapnel shoots throughout the cabin, injuring or killing the people inside.
Toyota, like other automakers, doesn't have enough replacement parts to fix their vehicles. This is the largest recall in US history with 70 million cars affected and parts are scarce.
Owners should get an initial recall notice in the mail, and then another when parts become available.
]]>Gulf States Toyota says the "load carrying capacity modification" label may be incorrect concerning the "correct added weight of the installed accessories." That little issue is a violation of federal vehicle safety standards.
Gulf States Toyota is the 2nd largest distributor of Toyota vehicles in the world. To find out if your vehicle came from Gulf States, give 'em a ring at 800-444-1074 (use recall number 16R2).
]]>Toyota has been taking flak for unintended acceleration incidents dating back to 2008 when the automaker recalled millions of vehicles for floor mat issues and sticky gas pedals. They paid over $1 billion to settle a class-action lawsuit in 2010, and paid over $11 million in damages to crash victim families since.
This lawsuit says certain 2002 and older Toyota models, including the Yaris, are **defective, unsafe, and can accelerate without input from the driver. If anything comes of it, we'll let you know.
]]>(Toyota) says 41,630 model year 2016 Camry sedans and 16,880 model year 2016 Avalon cars have front passenger airbags, including knee airbags, that can fail to deploy.
So far there aren't many details about this recall, but Toyota will need to recalibrate the OCS soon. Watch your mailbox for an official notice.
]]>Toyota says the minivans may have the wrong front seat belt height adjuster assemblies mounted to the pillar in the center. This can cause the seat belt to fail to hold an occupant in a crash. There's no word on when the recall will begin. ]]>
Toyota says it's possible a component inside the actuator could have been damaged during manufacturing and could cause a loss of vehicle stability control.I sure wish they could have stopped this before leaving the factory. I mean, these cars are brand new! When will owners catch a brake? (sorry folks, bad puns are part of the deal)
Toyota says your local dealer will need to check the serial number of your brake actuator to see if it needs replacement. For a full list of affected vehicles, visit our site.
]]>And to make matters worse, replacement parts aren't even expected to be available until later this year. Needless to say, Takata isn't going to make anyone's holiday card list.
]]>The pre-collision system can interpret a steel joint or plate as an object in the road. The steel object will activate the collision avoidance system and identify the steel as a car driving in front of the Toyota or Lexus vehicle.
About 31,000 cars are at risk of a sudden slam of the brakes. This includes the 2013-2015 Avalon and Avalon Hybrid as well as the Lexus ES 350 and ES 300h. Toyota doesn't have a solution other than to deactivate the system for now. A more permanent solution will likely involve a software patch. I'm sure Toyota dropped off a case of Red Bull, locked the door, and limited bathroom breaks for it's software development team until this is figured out.
]]>The lawsuit says Toyota dealers are being told to repair the engine, under warranty, if the consumer complains enough and their vehicle fails a test. However, consumers aren't being told the problem exists. So is it up to the owner to ask for repairs? Should Toyota be forced to repair all the defective engines? Is this just a ploy from the *United Auto Engine Oil Maker's Alliance?
*not a real agency ... we think
]]>Instead, NHTSA placed the blame on Corolla drivers in most cases. They also said an investigation wasn't worth their time:
"Taking into account the allocation of agency resources, agency priorities, and the likelihood that an additional investigation would result in a finding that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists, NHTSA has concluded that further investigation of the issues raised by the petition is not warranted."
If you think the agency needs to re-evaluate their priorities, add your Corolla complaint here.
]]>Keep an eye out for an official recall notice from Toyota. Owners can call 800-331-4331 with any questions.
The short-lived 2nd generation RAV4 EV has had mixed reviews. On one hand, it's an all-electric SUV which sets it apart from the crowd. On the other hand, owners have said they needed to replace the motor assembly, the heater, the DC-to-DC converter, and the charger timer.
If you've had issues with your RAV 4 EV, add your complaint on CarComplaints.com.
]]>The affected vehicles are mostly new, including:
Toyota didn't say when the recall will begin. Instead they want you to wait with bated breath -- non-bated breath is fine too -- to receive an official recall notice in the mail. Once the recall begins, Toyota technicians will replace the power steering control unit if your car "falls within the affected range."
Owners with questions or concerns can call Toyota at 800-331-4331.
]]>The case is finally moving forward after six years -- SIX! -- under California's Unfair Competition Law and the Consumers Legal Remedies Act. Maybe Mr. Reynante's case is as inefficient as his car?
If anything comes of the lawsuit -- and for the love of everything, let's hope that doesn't take another six years -- we'll let you know about it. In the meantime...
]]>Toyota hasn't announced when the recall will begin or what they'll do to fix the problem, because that would be helpful. Instead they're simply telling dealers to unplug the subwoofer. Total buzzkill, guys.
Concerned owners can contact Toyota customer service at 800-331-4331.
Yes, haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate. ↩︎
This second round of recalls is going to take some time and involves Toyota, Chrysler and Honda vehicles.
Owners with questions can contact Toyota at 800-331-4331. Pontiac Vibe owners can call GM at 800-620-7668.
]]>If you'd prefer your accessories stay attached, keep an eye out for a notification directly from Southeast Toyota Distributors. Notifications have already begun shipping. Questions or comments? Contact the distributor at 866-405-4226 and give them recall number SET-14B.
It was also announced that any 2013-2015 RAV4 equipped with an accessory trailer light could have a problem with those lights randomly turning off.
It turns out the software that controls the trailer lights is really over-protective when it comes to detecting electrical shorts. In that, even when no short exists the software will freak out like a conspiracy theorist with a tin foil hat and poof go your trailer lights. Not exactly the best thing to happen at night.
That problem is also being recalled and should begin around February 23rd. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota Distributors at 866-405-4226 and refer to recall number SET-15A.
]]>Toyota says there will be multiple phases and forms of coverage for this warranty extension. What, you expected something simple?
Here's the bottom line: any owner that can show their dash has been damaged by heat or humidity should be eligible for the extension -- at some point -- up until May 31, 2017. It gets a little more complicated after that so I recommend not waiting around until then. For all the details visit CarComplaints.com.
To find out if your vehicle is eligible for the dashboard warranty extension, contact Toyota at 800-331-4331 or Lexus at 800-255-3987.
]]>Owners of the 2014-2015 Toyota Prius V hybrid cars can contact the automaker at 800-331-4331. Side note: there's a new opening in the "calibration department" at Toyota[1]
Not really, but I'm guessing someone at least got called into the boss's office for this one. ↩︎
The lawsuit points to a TSB (that's technical service bulletin for people who never took Manufacturer Acronyms 101) that Toyota issued to dealers in 201. In the TSB, Toyota says their cars "may exhibit sticky interior panels that have a shiny / degraded appearance" and that revised interior panels "have been developed to address this condition." If you read between the lines I'm pretty sure it says 2006-2009 owners are just SOL -- that's an acronym that you don't need to take "Manufacturer Acronyms 101" to understand.
Now a judge needs to decide if Toyota deliberately concealed the defective dashboards and who should pickup the repair bill. The judge should also look into if Velveeta dashboards are a real possibility, because that would be awesome. Hey, if I'm going to have an overly shiny dashboard it might as well be some form of processed cheese product that I can dip a nacho chip into.
]]>Toyota says the impacts from road surfaces could be enough to cause the lower arm to separate from the ball joint. Any separation of the lower arm could cause a driver to lose the ability to steer the car."
The affected models are the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, and Avalon Hybrid. Full details of the recall are available on our site.
]]>Burns says these fixes don't go far enough to cover all the affected trucks from the 2005-2009 model years. He also thinks it's a bit fishy that limited service campaign information wasn't advertised to the public.
You can read more information about the lawsuit on our website.
]]>You never want to get to 10, but unfortunately Tacoma owners might not have a choice. Toyota recently announced part of the truck's rear suspension can break and rupture the gas tank or damage a brake line. Thankfully, there's a recall and here's a breakdown of what you need to know:
The problem: Toyota says the rear suspension leaf springs can corrode and break down over time. Once broken, those sharp edges can wreak havoc on the brake lines or rupture the gas tank. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that flammable liquid and sparks don't mix well. Toyota received its first complaint about the problem in 2009.
The recalled models: 790,000 (690,000 in the USA) Tacoma 4x4 and Pre-Runner trucks from the 2005-2011 model years.
Next steps: Toyota hasn't announced when the recall will begin, how they plan on fixing it or why people care about the Kardashians. To be fair, that last one is a real mystery. Affected owners can contact Toyota at 800-331-4331 with non-Kardashian related questions.
]]>A Rhode Island man, Robert Ruginis, has filed a petition to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) claiming Toyota vehicles continue to suffer from unintended acceleration at slow speeds. The petition was prompted by Mr. Ruginis' personal experience with the problem, but he's also gathered evidence on 83 additional incidents -- resulting in 34 injuries -- involving 2006-2010 Corollas surging at slow speeds.
We are awaiting NHTSA's response. Because it's the government they've given themselves a generous 120 days to respond ... that even has snails thinking, boy, that's slow. For more information or to read the petition, visit our website. If NHTSA moves forward with an investigation, we'll let you know about it.
Here's your chance to make a difference. If you've experienced strange surging or problems braking (or any other issue with your Corolla) tell us about it. There is a growing list of evidence supporting this petition's claims:
Want to hold Toyota responsible for this problem? Here's what to do:
If you complete any of those steps we'll give you our most enthusiastic virtual high five because you're awesome.
]]>The problem: Toyota hasn't said much about the problem other than it involves a bad weld in the engine compartment which they blame on a third-party supplier. Pointing fingers is very unbecoming, Toyota. The automaker said the weld can fail on the "end cap of the right-hand fuel delivery pipe" allowing gas to leak.
The recalled models: The 2014 Toyota AvalonXsc, Toyota CamryXsc, Toyota HighlanderXsc, Toyota SiennaXsc and model year 2015 Lexus RXXsc cars equipped with the 2GR-FE engine. In total, the recall affects about 20,000 vehicles.
Next steps: Owners of the affected cars will receive a notice from Toyota to schedule an appointment with a dealer. The fuel delivery pipe will be inspected and replaced if the pipe was made by a specific supplier.
Toyota owners can contact customer service at 800-331-4331, while Lexus owners can call 800-255-3987.
]]>For more information on the lawsuit see CarComplaints.com, especially if you own or lease one of the following:
And, as always, consult your mechanic if your liftgate is stuck open for more than 4 hours.
]]>The problem: The wrong tire pressure placard was put on the driver-side B-pillar and that violates federal safety standards.
The recalled models: The 2008-2014 FJ Cruiser and Tacoma. About 20,000 vehicles in total.
The fix: Toyota has already started mailing out new overlay labels to owners. You simply place the new sticker over the old one. Technically, you can bring your vehicle to a dealership to have them affix the new label for you if you are a big fan of wasting your time.
If you haven't received your new label, or have any questions, you can call Toyota customer service at 800-331-4331.
]]>The problem has been recalled and only affects a very specific set of FJ Cruisers with a specialized suspension. Here's what you need to know:
The problem: As mentioned before, loose bolts can allow the lower ball joint to separate from the steering knuckle. Say goodbye to your steering control when that happens.
The fix: Toyota will tighten the bolts they were supposed to tighten in the first place, or replace them if they've already fallen out.
The affected models: 1,800 model year [2014 FJ Cruisers][3], but only those with the optional Trail Teams Ultimate Edition package with specialized traction control and suspension.
Next steps: The recall is expected to begin in late September. I suppose Toyota just wants you to keep your fingers crossed until then. With any questions, give 'em a ring at 800-331-4331.
]]>The Problem: The transmission shift control cable may have a damaged protective sleeve. A damaged sleeve means a damaged cable -> a damaged cable means the gear shifter could display the wrong gear -> the wrong gear means you walk away from your "parked" car only to find out it was actually still in "reverse" -> finding out your car was still in "reverse" means an awkward call to your insurance company.
The Fix: Inspect and replace the protective sleeve, if necessary
The Affected models: 263 model year [2014 Toyota Siennas][3].
Next Steps: The recall should begin this month. Affected owners can call customer service at 800-331-4331 or keep an eye on your mailbox for an official recall notice soon. Not literally, though -- putting your eye on the mailbox sounds painful and might alarm the neighbors.
]]>Well, put the lemonade down folks -- Takata revealed it kept inadequate quality-control records and provided an incomplete list of defective parts. That means, if your vehicle was recalled last year but did not receive a replacement part, you're going to need to bring it back in to be checked against the new -- and hopefully complete -- list.
The vehicles affected by this include certain:
Affected owners should watch for official notification from Toyota, or call them at 800-331-4331. Lexus owners with questions can call 800-255-3987.
Other brands, like Honda, Mazda and Nissan, also used the defective inflators but no word yet on if they're expanding their recalls.
]]>Technically this isn't being called a recall, but much like Toyota's other recalls, this:
Instead, be on the lookout for a notice in the mail. In the meantime, Highlander owners can call Toyota customer service at 800-331-4331 with questions.
]]>If this all sounds familiar, it's because certain Siennas were recalled for the exact same thing in 2010. During that recall Toyota replaced the splash guard and added an anti-rusting agent to prevent corrosion -- how'd that work out? Let's hope they have a better solution in mind this time. May I suggest a splash guard that doesn't fall off as a good place to start.
The recall affects about 370,000 model year 2004-2011 Sienna minivans originally sold in or registered in cold climate states. It also involves about 80,000 minivans in Canada and 400 in Europe. Owners should be on the lookout for a letter in the mail soon, but owners with questions can call Toyota at 800-331-4331.
]]>You'll need to make a trip to your Toyota dealer so they can make sure the seat belt anchor is secured to the Highlander. Toyota didn't say how long that might take. Expect a recall letter this month or call Toyota at 800-331-4331 if you have any questions.
]]>Toyota announced plans to recall the 2001-2003 Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia, and Tundra along with the Lexus SC 430.
